Property, High Technology Crimes

Detectives in the Property/High-Tech Crime Unit conduct follow-up investigations into all manners of theft, fraud, vandalism, financial elder abuse, and arson.  This unit is comprised of one supervising sergeant and three detectives.  One detective is specifically assigned to high-tech crime investigations and is a member of the Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team (REACT), a Silicon Valley high technology crime task force.  The Property High-Tech Crime Unit receives an average of 350 to 400 property crime cases per month and a varying percentage of those cases are assigned to detectives for investigation.  

Identity Theft - Help and information

Presentations by Sheriff’s detectives regarding Identity Theft and prevention are available to community groups and organizations of 10 or more persons upon request.  Contact the Property/High-Tech Crime Unit at 454-2311.
