School Resource Officers

During the school year, deputies are assigned as School Resource Officers to Lakeview Middle School, Aptos Junior High, and Aptos High School.

On any given day, the School Resource Officer's responsibilities may require them to subdue a non-student coming onto campus to commit a violent act, investigate a theft or burglary that occurred on or near the campus, or endure the bus ride half-way across the state with hundreds of excited, overactive, hormone filled teenagers.  

The School Resource Officer's experience in identifying and intervening in gang-type activity, teen dating violence, traffic matters, and drug-related situations assist them  in their mission to make these schools safe.
