Type of Event:  Promotion to Sheriff’s Sergeant

 

Description of Event:

On Saturday July 12, 2008, Sheriff-Coroner Steve Robbins promoted Shon Leonetti, a law enforcement veteran of 13 years, to Sheriff’s Sergeant.  The position was filled from a vacancy due to retirement.  Leonetti served as a patrol deputy, court security officer and field training officer at the Sheriff’s Office since November 2001.  Prior to his employment at the Sheriff’s Office, Leonetti served as a police officer for the Hollister Police Department for 6 years.  Leonetti was a volunteer firefighter for the Felton Fire Department for approximately 7 years.

 

Sgt. Leonetti attended California State University at Long Beach where he studied Criminal Justice and in 1995 he graduated from the Central Coast Counties Police Academy at Gavilan College in Gilroy.  Leonetti resides with his family in Live Oak.  He enjoys water sports, basketball and spending time with his family.

 

Sgt. Leonetti is assigned to the Operations Bureau Patrol Division as the B-Team dayshift Watch Commander.  He is a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T.).  In February 2008, Leonetti was recognized by Lt. Governor John Garamendi for assisting firefighters in pulling a woman from a burning residence in Aptos.
