The
Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Activity League
will be taking signups for its new Off Road Motorcycle
Program for youth
ages 12 to 18. Girls and boys
who
join the program will be transported to Hollister Hills
S.V.R.A. by our
charity’s volunteers, where they will be taught in a structured
one day class
how to ride off road motorcycles.
The motorcycles that are
used for the class and the trail rides are Honda
XR 80’s and 100’s.
The instructors teaching the class are trained and certified through the
Motorcycle Safety Foundation to teach children to ride.
No previous
riding experience is necessary.
All the equipment is provided
(motorcycles, safety equipment,
transportation to and from the park).
There is no cost to participate in the
program. Anyone interested in
participating in the program should call Off Road
program coordinator,
at (650) 759-1462 for questions or Sgt
Christine Swannack
at the South County Sheriff’s Service Center at
(831)
763-4420 to sign up.
Parental permission required.
Additional
Parent/Guardian Information:
We
welcome children into the program that are between the ages
of 12-18 years old.
Your child does not have to have any previous
riding experience.
The
morning of the trip it is important that you arrive with your child
on time at 0800hrs to meet the coach or volunteer so the group can depart
for Hollister on time. You will
need to stay with your child until the coach
or volunteer arrives as there is a form you must sign that allows your child
to participate. If you are not
there with your child in the morning your child
cannot participate. Please
insure that you are on time to pick up your child
at 5:00 pm because the coach can not leave your child unattended.
Your child must wear a long sleeve shirt, even during the summer months,
long pants and over the ankle socks. Please
provide your child with a bag lunch
to bring with non-perishable food and at least two large bottles of
water.
Thank you.
