VINE Release Notification
Accessing
the VINE Program
You
may register electronically to be
notified of an offender's change in custody status.
To select if you want e-mail or phone notification, go back to the
"Corrections" home page,
click on "Inmate Locator", enter offender's last name or S#, and
register.
The Sheriff's Office utilizes the Victim Information and
Notification Everyday (VINE)
Program, an automated victim notification telephone service. The system
contacts
registered VINE users when offenders are released, transferred, or
escape. The
VINE computer begins calling registered users of the service within minutes
of a
change in an offender's custody status, and the calls continue until the
user
confirms receiving the information. Users of the VINE system can
also anonymously
access up-to-date offender information 24 hours per day, every day of the year,
by
calling a toll-free number. These VINE services are provided to
callers at no cost
and in both English and Spanish.
The
VINE Program offers two, 24-hour, 365-day, toll-free
telephone services
in English and Spanish to victims of crime and other concerned individuals:
Information and Notification.
·
Information -- Callers can anonymously access
vital offender information,
including custody status, inmate location, upcoming court events and
sentence expiration.
·
Notification -- Callers can register to be
notified of any change in an
offender's custody status, such as release, transfer, escape, court
event or sentence expiration.
If you don't
register electronically, you may access these VINE
Services
in Santa Cruz County by calling 1- 877- 331- 8463.
Keep
these points in mind:
·
There may be delays between the time of arrest and the
time an offender
is officially booked into the system. If VINE cannot confirm
custody,
callers should assume the offender is NOT in custody.
·
Individuals released on bail or on his/her
recognizance may NOT be
considered to be in custody.
