Organized in 1984, COPS' mission statement is: COPS provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty as determined by Federal criteria. Furthermore, COPS provides training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educates the public of the need to support the law enforcement profession and its survivors.

COPS is one of three organizations involved in National Police Week activities in Washington, DC, each May. Our largest event of the year, the National Police Survivors' Conference, provides tremendous peer support from other survivors and access to mental health professionals for newly-bereaved law enforcement families.

COPS also introduced and promotes Project Blue Light during the holiday season and our Fly the Blue campaign each May.

We invite you to explore the COPS website at www.nationalcops.org.
