The Ag. Office is currently open from 9am to 5pm, Monday - Friday.

Purpose of the Agricultural Crimes/Rural Crime Unit:
To investigate any property crime against a farmer, rancher,
agricultural related business or other designated industry which
takes place in the unincorporated rural areas of Santa Cruz County
and impacts the victims commercial production, distribution, or
economic livelihood derived from agricultural livestock, petroleum,
chemicals, farm implements and equipment.

CRIME PREVENTION TIPS

Security is the first line of defense. Thieves will generally weigh the risk verses the benefit factor. 
Strong security measures decrease the risk and reduce the chance of being victimized.

  • Secure Gates and Locks
  • Fence Property
  • Provide Vehicle Barriers
  • Mark your equipment, property and brand your livestock.
  • Know the location of your equipment.
  • Maintain fences and gates.
  • Increase lighting around property and storage areas
  • Post warning signs around pastures or lots.
